Cool Do's and Don'ts of Adsense.

    Hey guys,
If you're trying to boost your revenue for your site, you might want to check that you are not doing any of these:
    Don'ts
    - Don't create a website solely to create revenue, it rarely works and will not pay out if you are not pasionate about it.
    - Don't spam your site with ads, it creates a lower rate of clicks (you wont recieve as much per click compared if you only had 1 ad on a page)
    - Don't force users to click ads to view your content, and dont post things such as:
Click an ad to see the content
Click on ads to go to "your page"
    etc.

    Do's
    - Try to make or find an Adsense ready template for your website.
(basically, have nice placement of dividers so its looks professional and is placed in the line of sight).
    - Place at least one ad on a page. If you have a large site, and you have 1000 page impressions and only 3 clicks from 1 ad, you need to place more ads on the pages which having a higher view rate.
    - Make the page look neat when intergrating ads. Make sure your content doesnt suffer just so ads can be placed, and don't mess with the feel of the page, because that will generally drive traffic away from your site. If you have a massivfe ad in the middle of your page, and only a bit of content, the user will generally not find what they are looking for, and will simply hit the back button.
Hopes this helps guys, list is compilied by me :)

    Regards,

Thanks for these, another big "no" is to not get artifical traffic from surfing type websites and traffic exchanges.

    Some good advice there.

Other things to look at would be the use of Adsense section targeting tags ( google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=23168 ), and the keyword targeting of the page the ad is on, in terms of making sure that the context sensitive ads that are appearing are ones that people that visit the page will actually have an interest in.

I've never liked traffic from traffic exchanges. Sure, they may bring in some traffic, but it's not the type of traffic that we would want to visit our site.

I'd also add, dont make too much money from just one single account, Adsense tends to ban individual accounts who make too much and are outside the united states.
