I think the conbination of text and image is very great for catching people's eyes.

Image comes first. When you see something, and when you find the image interesting, you then start on reading the text linked with that image.

best is to try both and check how each performs in terms of click thru rate

Depends which part of my sites ive utilised for adsense.

on my forum face it would be Image ads intergrated with threads, where as my blog and Warez Directory are text and images ads.

Key is to not make them untidy ;)

I've used both in all of my adslots and it seems to work best. I think the crawler is clever enough to determine whether it should so an image or a text ad

To some degree, it depends on the site the ad is appearing on. Some sites lend themselves to flashy banner graphics, and some work better with text only ads.

Most of time i used Google Adsence for image in my blogs.gogle have good collection of adsence

Both of them are ok.
