From a search engine optimisation point of view, how often is the right amount to post on your blog. I've heard that posting too often can be seens as blogging for the sake of blogging and affects your PR. Yet not posting often enough can be deemed to be leaving your site un-attended and its not getting updates.

I've heard there is a fine line between the two but using my blog as a general blog, i post probaby on average 3 times a week. Some weeks its more, some weeks not at all. Its it best to keep a constant trickle or do the bots auto detect the dates.?

Frequent update of site pages/content is one of the many factors that will help in terms of SEO purposes.

3 times a week is not bad. Forget about PR and create a very informative, interesting and quality content for this will be your main key as you go along dealing with SEO process.

I also noticed this problem, but has not found a solution.

I do 2 posts of 100 words every third day and my blog has pr=2.
