based on my experience i would like to share some effective ways to drive targeted traffic to your blog / business. i have a great success with all the methods using them together and maintain my campaigns regularly

Guest Posting: guest posting is a great way of getting a targeted traffic to your blog make sure you use blogs at least 70% relevant to your niche i found a good offer in Marketplace which sells list of blogs or you can build your own list in a separate blog entry i will post how you can generate a good list of blogs with specific criteria

Press Release: Press release is a powerful weapon to get targeted traffic and in my opinion this should have been placed higher even for lazy webmasters i suggest outsource but keep it up i am still getting traffic from the first submitted press release

Article submission: there are a thousand number of article zines and they help getting good traffic in my case 75% traffic from article directories got converted into sales

Long Tail keywords: i read some stories that long tail keywords don't help much not sure what algorithm they used to say that but in my Opinion Long tail keywords help 100% much than short keywords.

Directory Submission: one way links are Gold keep directory submission many webmasters get profile backlinks but i suggest that you put your profile creation budget into directory submission.

Classifieds ad Posting: posting your ads about your product or service to classified ad posting posting your ad into right category gives you plus point focus on local base classified sites.

Social Bookmarking: put social bookmarking icons with your posts, product page specially Google Plus helps getting ranked high quickly.

Forums: when it comes to forums many of webmaster do it in wrong way they use forums for profile backlink sites harmed in Google penguin update were based on Too many links and forum profile links only increase number of backlinks nothing else read rules of forums put link in signature and contribute in forums be very specific on the topic don't get banned on forums or it will harm reviews about your product.

Reviews: reviews are also a very effective way to get targeted traffic but go with it by your own self do not outsource for it on reviews you don't have control of upcoming comment but if it happens try to clarify your position.

Banner Exchange: exchange banners with other sites 100% relevant to your niche.

Branding: create branded t-shirts, mugs, notebooks etc and give them away.

Awards: there are some organizations that offer awards participate.

RSS Feed: RSS feed is very important when a visitor sign ups to your feed s/he will get informed each time you write a new post and you will get returning traffic.

Ping: regularly ping you site's RSS feed to pinging sites.

Broadcast: create good quality videos and Broadcast in youtube and other video hosting sites some review type of videos help much if you get them uploaded by different uploaders.

i know all the methods are not new but putting them in one article may help you create a schedule and budget for all the methods.
also it may help you prepare yourself about how will you go for each campaign.
