Do Linux Server use Active Directory? or is there another piece of software which is used? Thanks

Linux has groups, users can be members of multiple groups.
A folder has an owner group OR user. Rights are granted in base 8 (octal) the IDs are Owner, Group and Everyone and are assigned to Read, Write and Execute So logically Read Write Execute Owner X X X Group X Everyone X Gives a permission of 744 on that folder. This is by far much quicker tan AD but does not allow masses of granularity Full access for everyone ever is 777 Peace |
