Thread: PlayStation celebrates 15 years

Sony has launched the first PlayStation in Japan on December 3, 1994. PSX are initially known name, the console has reached the shores of the West a year later and has been successful worldwide.

Entry Sony consoles market is due in particular those from Nintendo, which had a partnership with Sony to create a CD add-on for the Super Famicom. Nintendo has withdrawn from the business, but Sony has continued the idea and the result was the PlayStation, which is considered the first step towards 3D gaming available at home.

Sony PlayStation has been the leader of his generation consoles and the PlayStation 2 continued the same line. PS3 has not yet managed the same performance as the battle is more intense now, and Nintendo Wii leads detached volume. However, sales of PlayStation 3 have increased significantly after the launch of Slim.
