We were discussing the cost of privacy here in this thread but I felt like it might be better to start a new thread to ask

Why does anyone feel the need for privacy on a domain registeration?


I really do not understand. If your name and phone number are on the Federal do not call list to prevent unwanted phone calls which is the only thing I can think of, that you would be trying to prevent.

Please tell me your reasons.
