what are the best directories to submit to but also free,

ive done the most avious like google, yahoo, dmoz

which ones do you recommend

Are you looking for a particular nice or just general web directories you are after?

What niche are you looking?

i tried dmoz submission a year now, but couldn't get listed. I strictly follow the guidelines but again, it doesn't work

Its very difficult to get listed in DMOZ, but it is possible. The best sections of DMOZ to get listed in are the country sections

Well, keep your fingers crossed, you may find your site in DMOZ one of this days, I have heard of sites approved 2-3 years after it was submitted.

u can find good list of free general directories, paid directories and niche directories list at directorycritic.com ... sure it wud b helpful for sure ;)

on this day, have a lot directory like directorycritic.com... did you know that directorycritic.com not update they directory? there have a lot scam directory there..
