The Chairman and founder of the UK Domain Registry, Nominet Resigns
Dr Willie Black announced on September 10 his resignation as the chairman of .uk domain registry Nominet (www.nominet.org.uk), citing the need for new challenges now that the company has settled after nine years of extraordinary growth. He will leave on December 8. Dr Black founded Nominet in 1996 as a private, not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee with just three staff. Nine years later Nominet is one of the biggest domain registries in the world, has registered over 3.6 million domains, has 130 staff and boasts a turnover of 10 million pounds.
