Thread: .XXX domain names - pay one-off £200 to stop your name.xxx being registered

Sunrise period of .xxx domain name has just started. Trademark owners and celebrities are being given the chance to register their brand or name to stop it being hijacked by porn speculators. The xxx domain extension does not go live till 2012 but brand and trademarks are being offered the chance to either secure their brand or name or have it blocked.

The idea behind this so call red light domain suffix is to be able to know contents of a site by looking at the domain name extension. As we all know domain names extensions are usually not always used for what they are intended for example .org is being used by individuals and organisations that are actually not organisations.

Heh, that's a great decision. I really haven't thought about this, but I am glad that brands and celebrities have the possibility to secure the domains.
