How do you value a doman name you want to sell?
I know there are a lot of so call domain valuation companies around and even more online domain name valuation scripts but my question is, how do you carry out a reasonable objective domain name valuation by yourself?
I bought a domain name on ebay yesterday for about £300, a few months ago I almost paid £700 for the same domain name when it was offered to me directly by the owner but something led to the other the deal feel through. The owner the put it on ebay where I was the highest bidder and bough it for less than half the prices I almost paid for it a few months before.== Add your site to UK Web Directory and gain better ranking == Forum Leader Wanted

I guess it all comes to how badly you want it.

My belief here is that the so called "domain valuating companies" are doing it just for the sake of earning money. The value of a domain can be really found out by bidding, just as how you bought, the great thing about bidding is that you come to know how much others are willing to pay for the same domain.

Those valuation companies don't work well, their way of valuation is not correct. We need to look upon the history of the domain, and how well it would have been utilized by others if they owned it. I would go for an alternative domain with a little change if the quote I get is very high for the domain I wanted to buy from someone.

There's no science in finding the perfect price. Just think about how much money you can earn with it and start thinking about its price. Unfortunately, a good website doesn't need just a domain, but content too. So you can't really find the perfect price for it.
Anyway, the best thing to do is to sell it through auctions.

For the most part I would say a domain is valuable if it is short, easy to remember and ends in .com

You can not valuate anything without a need for having it.
So it all depends on people's urge to have the shown thing, other than this they are all the same.
