New forum startup
I'm in the process of trying out my hand at a computer help forum for novice to intermediate users where they can ask questions and hopefully get answers. Before I pile loads of time into it I'm keen to ask opinions on the best methods to get a forum underway and promoted.
I've read with interest the article on securing a forum but are there any general do's and don'ts as to getting one going. I am aware that I need posts and people to join to give it an air of popularity before promoting it (otherwise I don't think people would stay to visit).
I've got my topics list sorted I think and hope its ready to roll but its about getting it busier now. Am I best just sitting down and getting some content in there myself or are there particular methods to use?
Any help would be appreciated before I waste a load of time!
