Default Page Load Speed an Important Factor In Ranking A Site

Google is influencing web design again, at the end of last year, Google’s Matt Cutts hinted that speed could become a factor that Google looks at for ranking search results.

I just read an article now that according to new SERP Page load time will be considered more seriously by google while ranking a site! What do you think why are page loading speeds important?

I could definitely see this being true. Afterall, if your page loads SO SLOW people bounce anyways. And we know bounce rate matters.

We shouldn't forget the fact that search engines were developed to help people find the required information with less pain and precise results to the search terms. Thus IMO. a website that takes long to load would not serve the purpose of the individual searching the web. Also people usually overlooked the fact that websites load time was always a factor in the algorithm of Google.Only thing was that this was not given more importance by Google as well.
