According to Hitwise, a company that monitors online trends and searches, searches for keywords to do with travel, Flights etc are down by about 42% in the 3rd week of December 2008 when compared with searches for similar keyword in 2007.
Traffic to travel related websites are also said to have dropped by about 16%. I will speculate that a number of factors caused this including the very weak pound and general economic downturn.
