Without doubt, Twitter is the `in thing `at the moment, and it shows no sign of slowing down.

I don`t even have an account with Twitter. Just what is it that makes it such a promotional tool though?

If I have a website, how can it benefit me to register in say the website name? From a link point of view all the links are `nofollow.`

yes they might be nofollow but they can still drive traffic to your page if people click on them ;)

I think its one of those fad things that grips the internet now and again, I have an account but I am not sure I have been using it to the max

Well, they all have to be following you on Twitter for you to be able to reach then, if they all register at this forum, I can reach them too :)
