Online Revenue up by over 10% in 2008
As of quarter 4 of 2008, online revenue is up around 10.6% from the same time in 2007. The figures show that the majority of revenue in the industry continues to be in search related advertising, showing the continued importance in working on SEO. With search related advertising accounting for almost half (45%) of revenue, display rated advertising (for example, banners) is reasonably close at 33%. This means that almost 80% of all revenue is generated through search and display advertisement, which is what many webmasters focus on.
So, where is our money? The majority of webmasters that I know have actually seen a drop in the money coming to them from a year ago, with similar or increasing clicks/traffic. So, where is this money going? Is it being held by increasing fees from the industry fat cats or is it simply that the money in advertising is elsewhere, with the big companies advertising?Last edited by Sabre; 04-06-2009 at 12:25 PM.
