Google Advanced Operators.

There is no doubt about the fact that Google is the most used and the most loved search engines. Google supports some important query words which are important to Google and those which are having a special meaning to Google. These advanced operators that are supported by Google modify the search or commands Google with totally a new type of search. This is detailed with a small example: The word "link" is a special operator and when the user gives a query like [link: www.webmasterserve.com] Google does not perform a normal search instead it finds all the pages that have been linked with www.webmasterserve.com.

Some of the Advanced Operator functions which are common OR, " " The quote operator, - The minus operator, and + The plus operator. We are going to discuss some of the special operators that are used by Google.


1. cache: If you include other words, Google will highlight words which are within the cached document. Example [cache: www.webmasterserve.com web] will display the cached content which highlights the word "web". This operator can also be accessed from the Google's main result page. This operator would show the version of the webpage that Google has in its cache. Tip - When writing the command there are no spaces betweeen the "Cache" and the webpage URL.

2. link : This query will list webpages which are linked to specified webpages. Example [link: www.webmasterserve.com] will display webpages which have links pointing to the Webmasterserve home page. There is no spaces between the "link" and the webpage URL.

3. related : This query [related:] displays websites that are similar to the webpage that is specified. Example [related:www.webmasterserve.com] Note no space between the "related" and the URL.

4. info : This operator will display information that Google has about the webapge. Example [info:www.webmasterserve.com] will display information about the Webmasterserve homepage.

5. define; [define: ] will display definition of the words that are entered after it, which are gathered from different online rescources. This will include all the words in the excat format you type them.

6. stocks: This is the query which makes Google search for stocks and displays the stock ticker symbols and would link to the pages which shows stock information of the stocks. Note you would type not the name of the company but the stock symbol.

Query Modifiers

7. site: If the query [site:] is given to Google it will restrict the results to those websites in the given domain. Example [help site: www.webmasterserve.com] would find the pages that are realted with help within Webmasterserve.

8. allintitile ; [allintitile: ] This command restrict Google with the results to those with all of the query words in the titile . Example [allintitile:webmasterserve search] It will display only documents that include "webmasterserve" and "search" in the titile.

9. intitle: Google restricts results that contains that word in the title. Example [intitle:webmasterserve search] will return documents which mention the word "webmasterserve" in thier title and mention the word "search" anywhere in the document.

10. allinurl : If the query [allinurl: ] is given Google will screen the results which displays all of the query words in the URL.

11. inurl : If the query with [inurl: ] Google restricts the results to the documents containing that word which is in the URL.
