UK ISPs urged to disconnet persisten file-sharers
Industries that suffers loss of revenue through illegal file sharing want the government to force ISPs to disconnect their users who ignore warnings to stop swapping files. Creative industry complain to the government that piracy is costing them a lot of money.
UK music industry, the Federation Against ********* *****, the Musicians' Union and six other bodies that make up the creative industry federation want the government to force Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to warn, throttle the speed of connection and ultimately disconnect persistent illegal file-sharers.
Government agree to take action against illegal file sharers but has not approved disconnecting them. Part of the reason government is not eager to disconnect them is because most of the illegal file swappers are minors using their parents internet connection, disconnecting the parent for the child offense could be counter productive economically.

In my opinion the lack of disconnecting because "most are minors using their parent's connection" makes no difference. The parents are responsible for their children, and it wouldn't surprise me if the parents did it as well. I think money is involved here. Piracy is common and an ISP wouldn't want to disconnect a lot of people to save themselves.

If they do that it will just make people download from other sources like collages , liberary's and schools etc, i know most have firewalls to prevent these actions but most of the students can easily find ways around it, this would then lead to whole networks and businesses loosing their internet connections.
I think its just another scare monger tactic to make people worry about it more.
