Default Wolfram search engine - rival to Google?

A new search engine which some describes as a potential rival to Google has just gone live.
The search engine which is technically described as a computation knowledge engine does things differently, instead of sending you to to website with answer to the keywords you typed into the search filed, it actually give you answers to your questions.

Searches in Wolfran search engine return results in annotated pages of data rather than a list of other sites that might help resolve a user's query.

The significant difference between Wolfram engine and regular search engine is the fact that Wolfram has the computational horsepower behind it to resolve complete questions on its own without referring searchers to other sites.

It's very funny. Input "What's your name",

    Input interpretation:
    What is your name?
    Response:
    My name is Wolfram|Alpha.

I typed a date into it and I got VERY VERY detailed information about that date, try a date and see what you get.

Yeah its a mathematical search engine and will never rival google , nor is it meant to rival google.

There has been alot of hype about it through out the webmaster forums with very mixed views on whether people like it or not

I agree with RiverWire, it seems to be completely different from a search engine so it can't rival with Google. I did have a quick play with it and tried to make it convert 10 GBP to EUR and it came up with an exchange rate history graph. Very interesting.
