It was reported today that thousands of account details of hotmail users including login name and passwords were hacked and posted online. It was not clear whether the account details was obtained by hacking into Microsoft ownered Hotmail or just collected by Phishing

This seems to be happening with all the free email accounts, first google then yahoo and now hotmail. It is probably better if everyone got there own domain and hosting just for there email accounts.

because of lot of free email users. They are always in security risk.

My guess is it was simply phishing, majority of people are pretty gullible and fall for it over and over.

It was indeed phishing but automated and very successful

The first thing is the security for them. This should be taken into consideration firstly.
