I'm using from a while the last verion of ACDSee for viewing pictures. But except the fact that the last verison is a little better like comercial design, I think that the previous version was faster. Am I right or this is only my opinion.

I don't know about ACDSee anymore... it doesen't have a Linux version.. :P but when I still used windows I found a program which I liked better than ACDSee: http://www.xnview.com/ it eved had a plugin for Total Commander AND... it was free....

I've just download it, it looks nice, now I’ll use it for a while and I’ll tell you my opinion after I’ll see what it can do
