Default How can I market my new Web Directory Business

Can anyone advise on how to market my new Directory website for local business. First I need to get local business to register and then get user to go on it to find business.

I would appreciate any contribution in line of email marketing, SEO, Link Building etc.

Talk about it on webmasters' forums, advertise it on other directories and find topics where you can announce it as a new free/paid web directory.

As a local-based business you will find that using the local free press (send them an article explaining the benefits and a picture they can use) will give you a good kick-start. Then try also Google's brand-new free service 'Google Business Center' - which allows you to list your service and have it come on local searches. Use that presence as an enticement then for local business to list with you (which in turn closes the loop and begins to pay off for your visitors).

Competition amongst Directories is really tough so you need to find a way for those who find you to tell their friends about it. The easiest way to get online participation without spending anything other than time is to create a Facebook Page (not a Facebook Profile) and use your Facebook Profile to attract relevant attention to it and simply ask for a little assistance in publicizing it (much as you would in any informal, social setting).

    I hope this helps.
