Thread: I've made a website, now what?

Ok, So I made an image site a few days ago on "Monday 24th August 2012" to be precise.
It's basically an image site I update daily, I daily posts 48 funny pictures, I've been doing that for 5 days now...
It's just like 9gag.com with features for users to submit their own content.
The Problem is I don't know what to do now to get it promoted...
I've tried adding my site to one of those link exchange programs, I tried to SEO it. Which drive a bit of traffic but way to little to actually get people to like the content I publish and to continue doing it.

It's a tough niche! Promote it wherever you can. Tell your friends and family about it.Place a link in your email signature so that every email you send has a link to it. Get your friends to share it on their social media pages to their friends and family.If you have money, buy ads to promote it!

Promotion can be difficult. Make sure your site is something you are passionate about. If not, make a website about something you are very interested in. It also helps if your site is something that many people are drawn to also. You can measure demand with google adwords keyword tool is the first place i'd start.
