How to start a new forum
I've just started up a new forum on guitar collecting (see sig)... but what's the best way to get it moving until it is self-sustaining? And how long do you think it takes?

err, at the bottom, where signatures usually are!
If you can't see signatures you might have them turned off in your personal preferences - you can enable them in User CP.
The forum I was referring to is here: Collectable Guitars

Advertise around and draw in a few members, then work from word of mouth. Once you get listed by google etc. you'll start pulling in even more members. It won't take long as long as you put a lot into it.
If you don't have any money to pull in members etc. then it's a lot harder, but the above should work, as long as you've got a niche in the market.

I would suggest you to join social networking sites, make friends (especially with those same interest), and invite then into your forum..
You could also bookmark your forum on social bookmarking sites within very much related categories..
On your forum, think of a topic that would make guests and members react. If you have no idea on what thread to start, you may find this link as your help.
Hope it make sense.. =)
