Yahoo has finalized the agreement with Microsoft, which installs Microsoft technology for search on all sites in Yahoo's portfolio, announced the two companies.

The agreement, concluded in July, still needs the approval of U.S. authorities before being formalized. The two companies have made a partnership regarding online search, which aims to implement Microsoft's technology to Yahoo search, and makes Yahoo the unique seller of advertising for Microsoft sites and those of its own portfolio.

few years back yahoo used google's search api to show search results. It is not an easy job to run a search engine.

Indeed it's not an easy job. You always have to improve your search engine. For example google is introducing real-time results with it's Caffeine update. You can read more about this topic on an article I've wrote: Google's algorithm update: Codename "Caffeine".
