Hi there, I am new here. I wanted to know which is the best way of optimizing photos for the web? what is the the best way of converting and processing photographs in batch?

Irfanview will do anything you could possibly want for processing and converting digital images for the web, and a lot more. It is a very extensive browser, and with a load of plugins, the possibilities are almost endless.
For real image manipulation, you cant beat Photoshop Elements, which you can get for under £100 or even under $100 if you are happy with last year's version.
