Find out where visitors click most on your site
We all want to get more clicks on our ads to gain revenue for the site but what is the best way to find out where to place the adverts so they perform their best? One simple way to do this is to use a Heatmap. Heatmaps are a piece of code that reports where people are clicking on your pages and much like a thermal camera, displays darker red colours in the hot spots on the admin page.
There are a number of versions of heatmap software available, some free and some paid for. It goes without saying there will be more reporting features and options available on the paid for editions however if it is just a simple heatmap you want, then look no further.
Clickheat is a wonderful piece of software that uses JavaScript to report on your site and display a version of your page overlaid with the map of hotspots on the page. Erroneous clicks on your side bar, near buttons etc all show up as likely places toad your adverts. Try running it for a month and seeing what you can learn about your site.
