If you site is to be well optimised for Christmas, you should have started doing this a few months ago, its still not too late if you have not start.

I think relying on seo results regarding the Christmas can be risky. I think if you set up special discounts for a period of time you shoud rather use viral methods -social bookmarking- or PPC programmes. Of course if you have time it may worth placing a page dedicated to the Crhistmas, but I am pretty sure that this is some very competetive market so you may get referrals mostly due to long tails.
