No they aren't as far as I know (at least on Google, as jono pointed out)...plurals may be more of a problem though e.g boat. and boats should both be used to target more effectively.

i think ...
because.... example the mens and men's.... when you type the "mens" it'll have a raking on SE's....and "men's" have other ranking :P they will have different ranking.... hope you understand what I just said :P
