Tags vs Keyword density
From what I've noticed, when sites are displayed in Google for a certain query, they contain:
- Title page (title tag) (and the link to the page)
- Description (meta tag description) which appears below the title
That would be the general case.
I noticed that if there is no description tag, google displays the first H1 from the page content.
If there is no H1 declared, it will take the first <p> from the page.
If it doesn't find any of these, it will take a title from a link, or alt from a image.
So not only the existence of the tags matters, but also keyword density. For example if you have only a few keywords, related to the search term, in the description, chances are high that your description will be ignored and the crawler will go forward to the first tag that has a keyword density rather "convincing / satisfied" for Google.
