Most of the search engines no longer use meta keywords, but some do. And no SE is going to penalize you for having them if they are used correctly. So while it won't make a lot of difference for the likes of Google, it may help with some others. This is vital if you market to an international audience.

I too study in lot of articles that meta tags are not the important tag for search engines.
