For a new site you must do value work instead quantity. I want to give you some functional following proposal.

1. First you should do Search Engine Submission

2. Press Release Submission

3. Submit only high pr Directory submission site like Dmoz.

4. Google base Submission

5. Quality Article Marketing

6. Social Media Optimization

7. Social Bookmarking

8. Create a Good informative blog and then do blog submission

9. Make a good Rss and then submit in Rss submission site

Following this work you will get profit certainly.

For a site on-page optimization is an important factor, for a site to rank well, make sure that it is well optimised using targeted keywords.

I go on with kate first of all On-page optimization is very very important for a SEO point of view. Analyze your competitoner and also analyze your keywords and optimize your page with the help of keyword density checker.
Then start with the off-page optimization. I thank for the list above which would be very useful for SEO starters.

I think original content should be added to this list as a key factor. You could do all of the above, but if all you have on your site is copy/paste found elsewhere, Google won't care how much of the rest of it you do.
You're just wasting your time and effort if you jump into all of that when there's nothing new or original on your site.

You cal also post comments on related blogs and articles. If you will put comment on high PR blogs and articles and if you get approval you will get a good quality back links to your website.
