Am sure most members here at webmaster serve either own a site or manages site and your main aim is to top Search Engine Ranking Page, create Quality Content, have good Conversion Rate and Click Though Rate (CTR).

Most webmasters concentrate more a site's PageRank because they believe PageRank is a metric of a site's good reputation.

“The most famous part of our ranking algorithm is PageRank, an algorithm developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who founded Google. PageRank is still in use today, but it is now a part of a much larger system.”

Beyond PageRank: Graduating to actionable metrics

Google now advises webmasters to look at metrics that will bring meaningful gains to our website, than just focusing on ranking signals. Webmasters should look beyond PR and focus on Conversion rate, Bounce rate and Click Though Rate (CTR). This three metrics are updated more regularly than PR that updates a few times in a year so it let you measure accurately your sites success than PageRank.

Use of shorten URLs are increasing day by day.URL Shorten Services are using permanent 301 redirection which is search engine friendly.It is widely used in websites like twitter which allows 140 character URL.As per google statistics and SEO point of view, the click rate on long urls is very less in SERPS. It is very hard to write or to remember long URL for a common user. Only drawback is that in some cases short urls slows down the browsing to an extent, since it involves so many factors like DNS lookups etc. But as compared to long URL it has many advantages,provided the urls will be shorten with right url shortening website.

You need to continue to do SEO for your website to to maintain its visibility and growth. Search Engines often changes their algorithms from time to time, so what worked last year may actually not work this year. If SEO is not continuous, search engine rankings can decay over time.

Also your competitors are doing SEO regularly, so you should not relax!
