Thread: Google Maps -> Local Business Results

How many of you have been interested on this subject ?

I have studied it on Irish market and now I can see how it works on the Romanian market ( as we now have Local Business Results on google.ro ).

Have you ever considered the factors for inclusion ? Have you created a KML and "submitted it" in order to get listed in LBR ?

What are your thoughts on this subject ? Would you consider it a traffic source or maybe just a good step for awareness ?

This is a fantastic topic, I have not studied in details but I have had two of my SEO customers site submitted and listed.
From your experience at the Irish market, what did you find to be the crucial listing factors?

In general, there were few things I had to look at :

1. the shape and completion of the KML
2. having one google map online ( website, blog ) with the placemarks sidebar
3. having a review option ( like tripadvisor )

I have an example page here - this is an experiment i made with a kml with placemarks from Timisoara. I still need to do some optimization in order to try to get the service on the top-ten.

Personally, I consider LBR at least a good source of awareness, if not even a traffic one, as there are popular strings like this one.

It will be fantastic if you can do a set by step guide of how to get a business listing in the local business result, I have added a few businesses but not as well optimised as you described, I did not even do the KML part of the process, looking forward to a full step-by-step if you have the time.

KML is a file format used to display geographic data in an Earth browser such as Google Earth, Google Maps, and Google Maps for mobile.

The best way to market your business over social networking websites that's a great Idea...the facebook is a better option to promote and market your business it can be useful as well. The suggestion is valid but don't take the ""shotgun"" approach. First try out in a better way make a profile on facebook collect some friends and customer then post your articles and other content toward the customers that you want to share with 'em. Think about what your customers are interested in and talk about what interests they 've. This will take a bit of time.
