Thread: What factors matter for Bing from the SEO point of view

Domain age is the most important. Unanimous conclusion reached by a number of SEO experts who have analyzed Bing was that the domain age is very important in arranging the results, which may be bad news for bloggers in their war with newspapers.

PageRank is not a decisive factor. Instead, it was noted that Bing, beside Google, given a little importance of the PR field, showing in the beginning pages with PR 2 versus PR 5 pages in Google. Apparent authority is the age of the Internet domain, not the quantity and quality of links received.

Links on keywords matter more for Bing. Although the number of links and their importance seems much smaller, for optimizing Bing could be made with a high percentage of links to the page with exact anchor text of your keywords. I personally found that just internal linking of a site can obtain a superior position in Bing.

Optimizing page content is important. Although an area of highly disputed optimization, expert opinions tend to support the optimization of content pages as an important factor for ranking high in Bing.

New content matter less. Another bad news for bloggers, publishing that fresh content managed to classes in the best position in Google results - Bing seems to favor the old pages. Lot of people think is that this tactic will deprive the search content fresh, which might displease users.

Most of the ranking parameters are just like for other search engines. I have noticed that new content do not stay that longer in bing as earlier it used to be.


Keyword rich domains rank very easily in bing just like msn so if you have a site like keyword1-keyword2.com, you can rank easily for “keyword 1 keyword2″ in bing search engine.

It seems bing is giving lot of weightage to age of domain as I am seeing lot of sites with strong backlinks and old age ranking very high. Anyway you can’t do much about such factors so better leave it and focus on quality of content.


Bing seems to be giving lot of weightage to on page seo factors too so you may like to optimize title, keyword, description etc but don’t over do it and certainly do not prioritize it as you can easily trigger search engine filters due to this.

I agree with every thing you wrote above Ovi, another thing that Bing seem to attach a lot of importance to in ranking is keyword in domain name, I typed in a keyword in bing the other day and almost site listed from page 1 to page 3 of Bing serp had the keyword in their name.

I have add your point to the main article, I propose to add all the factors that we discover on the way regarding Bing so we will have a very strong starting point for SEO in Bing.
