On a site with 500 hits a day, how much could you possibly earn?

Even if you get 2,000 hits a day, you may not earn from your website. It all depends on the audience that you are targeting, the products that you are selling and if your visitors would be interested in such a product. So, you can get thousands of visits a day to your site, you may not make a dime unless you have a product that those visitors want.

3- what kind of ads you are using
and many other factors really play vital role to determine the revenue of the site.

It's not the hits, it's the unique visitors and with 500 or more you can make some decent money if you funnel them in the right direction, making sure they are in fact targeted.

I think you can earn less than 5$ a day with 500 visitors.

500 visitors overall brings me about 1 - 5 dollar with ppc on some of my sites. It indeed depends a lot on what kind of traffic it is. If you have 200 visitors but highly on target then its ofcourse much easier to sell them something or have em do something, then when you have more general traffic.

For example if you manage to get 500 people to a site about health and even more specific, a deep niche in health .. then its much more likely you will be able to sell them affiliate products . But if you pull in 10 000 people that are looking for games for example, to that same site, you probably wont even get 1 sale. Then the traffic is costing you money not making you any, i learned that the hard way sadly

Your website income does not depend on the number of hit or visitors. It depends on the number of targeted visitors. Only targeted visitors will perform an action on your site. Optimize your site with relevant keywords to get targeted visitors.

if they are good visitors, i mean they are looking for your site and stay there for sometime than you can earn around 1 cent / visitor

depend which traffic coming from, if from search engine that would be $4-$5 [if user not too cleaver, they would click your ads] other wise you should join program paid per visitor or similar

It depends on the conversion. If they just visit and did nothing, its useless. If they click one google adsense every hits, that could be $500 a day
