One of the biggest newspaper firms in the UK, will charge users for access to the online content from six of its titles.
The Johnston Press websites are considering either to ask users pay £5 for a three-month subscription, if they want to read the full articles, or suggest them to buy the newspapers. Johnston Press is the first regional publisher from UK that will ask readers to pay for its online content.
The Worksop Guardian, The Ripley & Heanor News, The Northumberland Gazette and The Whitby Gazette are several sites that will be included in this system.
The Scotsman, also published by Johnston Press, already operates a similar system for users that want to have access to their "premium content".
