Dell has sold products worth 6.5 million dollars via Twitter
The third largest producer of PCs, Dell, has started using Twitter two years ago to attract new consumers. Approximately 6.5 million U.S. dollars is the total amount generated by direct interaction with Twitter over time. While these sales are a very small part of Dell's annual revenue of about 61.1 billion U.S. dollars, the company considers Twitter as one of the most important ways of interacting with consumers, said Manish Mehta, vice president of Dell Online.
Dell has attracted Twitter users from 12 countries. For example, Twitter users from Brazil spent approximately 800,000 dollars in the last eight months.

That is impressive, did no know you can use twitter to sell. Perhaps they just broadcast their offers and their followers go to their website to buy

Yes, i think they did it that way to. Maybe the option of selling through twitter will be available when they will release the business accounts.

Just shows the power of social media!
I dare say twitter and other social media platforms are becoming an increasingly important part of companies sales and marketing strategies, and as technology and consumer metrics get more advance, its only going to increase :)
