Thankfully for now it`s gone a little quiet, but there`s no doubt there`ll be many more businesses going into administration before this year is out.

According to the statistics, geographically, north-east and south-west England are seeing the biggest increases in business administrations.

More than 400 JJB Sports workers were made redundant today as its Original Shoe Company [OSC] and Qube chains were put into administration.

Last week JJB had warned staff that it planned to hire KPMG as administrators, after it failed to find buyers for the loss-making businesses, and their appointment was confirmed today.

KPMG said it was closing 46 of the 77 stores that comprised what was JJB's "lifestyle division" – an ill-starred attempt by now suspended JJB chief executive Chris Ronnie to build a fashion sideline – with immediate effect. OSC sells branded clothing and trainers and Qube was a branded footwear specialist.

Darlington F.C. have gone ito administration today. They will be deducted 10 points.

When the points deduction is applied, Darlington will drop from seventh to 11th.

How can a club survive on attendances of between 2,000 and 3,000 when the ground holds 27,000?

So she secured investment and is set to relaunch the popular and profitable shop in Dorchester, Dorset, and run it just like Woolworths.

She has promised to keep the famous Pick 'n' Mix and will also stock toys, home and kitchen items, textiles and seasonal products.

Wellworths, which Miss Robertson believes will become known locally as Wellies, will employ 22 staff who previously worked there.

Miss Robertson had been manager of the Dorchester shop for five years and it was one of the last in the country to close on January 6.

Miss Robertson, who lives in Yeovil, Somerset, said: "I had been with Woolworths for 18 years and started as a Saturday girl.

"I trained as an assistant manager and worked in several stores and was manager at the Dorchester one for the last five years.

"When we heard the news that it was to close there were lots of tears.

"But I didn't see why the shop should close because it was profitable and was always popular.

"So I decided to open it myself and the name Wellworths cropped up.

This is really good news, i had not seen this before, thanks for posting it.

The whole Woolworths mess has me rather annoyed, the company has clearly been very poorly managed, this is a company that has done very very well in the past and now when the going gets a little tough they go under? Thats poor and annoying, its about time a standard is set that ensures companies tuck away a proportion of their profits when the going is good, so they have substantial fall back capital when the going is bad, i thought this was common sense, clearly not.

I hope this lady does very well at her new shop and shows her ex bosses how things should be done.
