Internship in the UK
Hello there
Last year I had been looking for a long time for internship in the UK and found out the following in the UK.
Most Internship in UK are predominantly unpaid. Although some do offer some remuneration
Companies will ask you to pay for food, accommodation travel etc and in return you get the benefit of working for their company.
While to some this may be seen as cheap labor, an internship is a voluntary exercise and everyone that goes into an internship placement especially in the UK should be aware that its not an easy ride, but a great opportunity to establish a strong work ethic and learn a trade
Note: An internship is not the same as paid work in the UK. With an internship you have the unique opportunity to learn from the ground up and work your arse off to acquire as much as you can.
An internship in the UK is designed to set you up with a wide range of experience, and from a future employer perspective show that you went out on your own to learn and that you were looking for more than just a pay check but also some valuable work experience to help you with your future career.

Internship UK - work your arse off
This is too general. Paid or unpaid internships depends on the field you are looking an internship in.
This depends on the type of company and their ethics within the fields you are an intern.
I do agree with "An internship in the UK is designed to set you up with a wide range of experience". Apart from that: Who made you believe this? This is nonsense. Just because you went out to the UK for an internship doesn't mean you gain what you want to learn as an intern. Internship is about quality over quantity. And internship-uk.com is one of the companies that doesn't know what quality is!
Whether you look for an internship in UK, France, US, Spain, Hollande, Germany or wherever, the aim of an internship is... and I have a few definitions of 'internship' for you:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internship
An intern or stagiaire is one who works in a temporary position with an emphasis on on-the-job training rather than merely employment, making it similar to an apprenticeship.
Internships provide the employers with cheap or free labor for (typically) low-level tasks (stereotypically including fetching coffee for the office), and also the prospect of interns' returning to the company after completing their education and requiring little or no training. (is this really what you want during an internship? To be considered cheap/free labor?)
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/internship
A job taken by a student in order to learn a profession or trade.
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/intern
a student who works (often without pay) in order to gain experience in their chosen field
http://web.bedford.k12.ny.us/flhs/guidance/vocab.html
INTERNSHIPS: Short-term, supervised work experience, usually related to a student’s major, for which the student earns credit. The work can be full or part-time, on or off campus, paid or unpaid
http://wps.prenhall.com/chet_carter_...ent/index.html
Internship – A temporary work program in which a student can gain supervised practical experience in a particular professional field.
http://www.usaeducationguides.com/gu...emic-terms.jsp
Internships—Practical work or training experience that allows students to apply what they have learned in class. Generally, you'll participate in an internship when you are not taking classes—perhaps during the summer.
Now imagine you are a student: which definition would you choose?Last edited by Jhans; 04-12-2009 at 04:00 PM.

I am here again to tell all of you news from this FAKE of company. I was looking around the web sites and I found several forums and webs where internship-uk.com is making marketing to get more people. And is good to see that more people knows about it and begin to denounce it. Everything that is said on this posts is REALLY TRUE.
After closing all my contract and after all things I said in other post, a few days ago I received another email from them asking why I am posting things in webs and forums like this and if I don't have any more thing to do... And every of this under insults to my person.
This is really stupid and surrealistic. Come on! I am hard looking for a job because of them and also I loose money.... DON'T TELL ME THAT I AM BORED... I am doing this to warm and denounce all this abused and REAL FAKE of this company.
Don't fall in their webs. They make them very good and every seems great and good job, but if you look in forums, there are people who THINK THE SAME!
I received an email from this company telling me that I have to pay about 350 pounds in concept of administrative expenses and because of cancel my contract with them and hotel...
They say it because I cancel the process (and then, they had to cancel the reservation in hotel where I should be), the hotel couldn't rent one room in one week; so I have to pay this week of accommodation...
And all of this, I have to pay before Monday 9th. March. If not, they will take legal actions against me because of contract failure...
For sure, you are now surprised, like me this morning.
This is now so surrealistic. How they pretend me to pay if I had already cancel the contract this them and there wasn't any cancellation term where I should carry with expenses? Also, if I had already paid the 100 pounds (indeed, they finally have them...), why I have to pay again?
So, I had decided not pay attention on them anymore.
