Best method for converting visitors to purchasers?
According to a Jupiter Research study 77% of online shoppers use reviews and ratings when purchasing, whilst a NetExtract study in 2007 stated 71% of UK online shoppers seek out ratings and reviews.
Do you think these figures reflect the reality of online shoppers using your website? I'm interested in what people have to say about this topic. In Germany magazine test reviews done by professionals are at the forefront of eCommerce, being a very important element for assisting customers in their online purchasing decisions. I believe they are very useful too but I wonder is the same importance placed on them in the UK.
Do you display product reviews on your website's online shop page, and how successful have you found it to be in converting visitors to purchasers? Do you think displaying user reviews and ratings or test reviews done by magazines would boost conversion rates? Which do you think customers place more value on?
Any feedback would be welcomed.
Cheers,
Evan

Shoppers should establish the friendly relationship with online shop business on the basis of equality and mutual benefits. Good reviews and ratings can lead visitors to be willing to purchase the products on line . But I think the high quality of the product is the key to attract visitors. Good products, good prospects.

I added pages for complete product reviews of specific items, and I have to say this hasn't really shown any increase. While I get plenty of visits to the articles section, it's rarely to read the product reviews I have there.

I think some "best products" , "people that bought this also bought this...also" and "feedbacks" are good ways for growing the odds of transforming a visitor to a buyer.
