    acquiring a student credit card can be good start in building credit. but you have to learn how to manage your finances wisely to avoid debt problems in the future.

    Well, a problem might occur when that very student starts spending all money from his credit card on clothes. That would not be so wise. :)

    If you are really interested in building up your credit profile then you might want to consider using a Credit Card like Cashcard Plus (Google 'mycashplus.co.uk') - with the 'credit building' option. Basically it becomes a valid form of building creditworthiness so you have a ready-amde profile when you stop being a student, plus, seeing how you can only spend money through it when you have put money in it, it will never allow you to run up a debt.
