I like virtuemart because I do a lot of joomla sites anyway, as for magento, I started a project with it but was actually forced to drop it because of bugs, I found a bug where a certain combination of things actually spat the user out of the checkout process, this would be okay but magento support simply ignored my mails about it, this went on for 3 weeks, then the next release said the bug i found was fixed, yet it wasn't just fixed under certain circumstances. Unless you pay for support they don't give you any at all. Aslo requiring SSH for proper updating etc is not good. I will try magento again when it is more mature but for now I would not recommend it for comercial websites

I have heard many positive things about OsCommerce software. I know that serverpoint.com offers it in their web hosting plans. Moreover, this company has intellectually gifted staff and you can ask them about this software, the pros and cons, advantages - no doubt, they will explain you everything you may need to know.

If you ask me, I use magento software and I run my web sites fast and efficiently. As for recommendation, have a look at a2hosting.com web hosting offers - the price is affordable for them and the main reason is that this company is focused on delivering unmatched speed for magento!

yep... I also prefer Magento because Magento ecommerce platform combines the flexibility of open-source technology with industry leading features to provide merchants unprecedented control over online store operations and get the online sales booming. And, one of its important feature is it is SEO friendly.
