One Way Vs Reciprocal Vs 3 Way Linking
Link building is a great way to get your website higher up the search engines
A one-way link is when a page link to another page without a link back from the other pages ie Link from A to B without B liking back to A. So site B gets a boost while A does not. One way links are the most valuable links a website can acquire because they act as votes from one site to another.
Search engines place more emphasis on one-way links, they see it as a vote of confidence. One-way links are great links to have because they increase your link popularity - the number of pages linking to your site. Search engines such as Google place huge importance on link popularity when ranking your site.
A reciprocal link is if a site link to another website and that website links back to your website ie site A link to B and B link back to A, so both of them gets small boost. The search engines can easily identify which sites link to whom, so reciprocal links can be easily identified and are counted very little by the search engines these days.
A Three-Way Link: Due to SE easily identifying a reciprocal link, three way linking was introduced. 3 way linking is considered a triangular one way link between three sites. Its when Website A links to website B, website B links to website C, website C links to website A. The three sites gets a strong boost. Doing a three way link exchange makes this look more natural as site A is linking to site B, but getting a link back from site C.
In conclusion:
The most important thing is that links you get are related, quality inbound links definitely will help to get higher SERP. A link is a link either its one way link, reciprocal link or three way link as long as it is a good inbound link and source of the link have high PageRank and of course non-spammy site, it will help your rankings.
Though one way links is much preferred because your websites will not share the link juice with other website and building too many reciprocal links or three way links may end up having too much outbound links which make search engines hard to follow all of them.
One-way links are considered to be natural links and not an attempt to manipulate rankings.Certainly one-way links are better than reciprocal links, but the factors that we look at as being the most important are link relevance and quality. If the link is relevant and of good quality, it does not matter if it's a one-way link or a reciprocal link... just a valuable link.

i think..... building one way links is the best because, you can get direct hit to your site..... but if the link partner/s are quality sites like high Page ranking and traffic then it's good for backlinks and traffic of your site also :D

Agreed YoHee.. one way linking is the best among all types of link building. An example of one-way linking is submitting articles on article submission websites and directories. with a Resource or About The Author box that contains a one-way link back to the author's URL. These one-way links help authors increase their page rank.
