Why is wordpress better than blogspot?

I have a blogspot blog, but only recently have I tried to actually make it nice for viewers (I used it primarily just for myself with notes and memorization).

But, it seems like so many people use wordpress and I notice a lot more specialization talk with it. Is wordpress better, and if so why do you think so?

I don't think WP is necessarily better, but it is widely used by bloggers. Definitely has some catchy plugins that attract people. :)

The main thing about the Wordpress blogging CMS, is that you can set your site up on your own domain as a proper website.

Blogger blogs are free hosted subdomain sites, which won't do as well with the search engines - at least not at first. Once the Blogger blog has established itself as a site with high quality original content it may possibly do as well as a domain site.

The Wordpress.com free Wordpress blog hosting service is another story. Something to bear in mind with Wordpress.com, is that they don't allow you to have advertising on your site, so you generally can't host commercial blogs there

The plug ins for WP make it a lot more flexible to use. And there are also a lot more themes available for WP.

Self hosted wordpress is class as you can create, customize or produce as you want while wordpress hosted blogs are badly limited, I'd prefer blogspot over wordpress.com hosted blogs
