Combining Two Wordpress Themes?

Hello folks...

I am new here and was directed here on good advice.

I am currently building my own blog and I have found a great theme here:

the only thing is... I really would like the blog roll and friends links (plus maybe a calendar) and hit counter to scroll down the right hand side in the same font and colour as I already have. This would constrict the blog text so that it doesn't spread completely acros the page and when I add imaged they will have a border around them and the text will wrap around them if I choose... a bit like this: http : // farm4.static.flickr. com /3470/3312005822_19b10cba8d_o. jpg

I have tried and tried and I just can't reach this... I'm not a programmer but I'm sure for someone who is they could tell me if it can be donw and how quickly... am I wasting my time?

maybe it would be easier to transfer the banner, font and text size/colour from my existing blog to the flickr example I have given? mmm
