Help Me/Question Allowing Your Original Content To Be Copied For Additional Exposure

Hi guys We were approached by a small business advisers website the other day and they asked us to share some of our original accountancy articles with them to publish on their site. This is content already on our website. We are very happy for them to broadcast our accountancy articles...

My 2 Cents Icc Uk Cookie Law

Surely asking people if they want cookies to track them, then makes all Google Analytics results null and void?! What are other webmasters doing about this?

Help Me/Question Backlinks - Does Targeting Single Keyword Help With Double Keyword Phrases?

If I am backlink targeting to rank highly for say 'accountants London' with my homepage then does targeting just 'accountants' help does anyone know? ie. if say I rank 9th in Google for 'Accountants London' and dont do any more back-linking on that phrase, but instead start targeting...

Re-wrote whole website in WordPress - Google impact?

I just hope I got them all. I will be watching GWT very closely yes. My main concern is that it will take a few weeks for the PR to be reallocated to the moved pages and as such the whole site will drop from the rankings for said time whilst Google works out what to do with it. Fingers crossed!

Re-wrote whole website in WordPress - Google impact?

Hi guys I just re-wrote my whole website in WordPress, based on a Premium Theme (Polyon) and using a Premium slider (Pro Slider). Only cost me $50 and the results are amazing! It went live late last night. http://goringeaccountants.co.uk/ Anyway, I have placed 301 redirects for all the old...

BT hosting on servers in the US

Thinking of moving hosting to EVOhosting due to BT having Serbs in the USA and as such being penalised in SERPs for local customer lookup (not to mention the website being subject to US laws). We only moved to a new BT hosting package in Dec (adding database functionality) so I am concerned...

Yell.com - if all links are paid links then surely google should penalise?

Our MozRank went down by 0.5 after Yell cut our advert. But all our Google rankings stayed the same. Be interesting to see what affect a free listing has.

Yell.com - if all links are paid links then surely google should penalise?

'Visit website' is a direct dofollow link temi, so they must be passing PR. Try it! :) I suppose if the paid and free listings are all dofollow then there isnt such an issue - well they are listed at the top for paid ones so from that perspective it is a paid link service.

Yell.com - if all links are paid links then surely google should penalise?

Actually, looking at it now, when you stop paying they just remove your site listing. But what they don't tell you is you can then sign up for a free listing. I will find out tomorrow when it should go live whether it is nofollow, unlike the dofollow paid listings...

Yell.com - if all links are paid links then surely google should penalise?

If all links on the yell.com site are now paid links then why isn't Google penalizing the site? Yell wanted to charge us several hundred quid just for a very basic listing - in no-way an 'advert', just a link. So surely this is just a big link-farm??? Spotted a few other places on the web...

Help Me/Question Multiple Sitemaps, Single Domain - Overlap Penalties?

I currently have 2 sitemaps (and each of those as xml plus xml.gz equivalent). One is generated from the sites main root, the other is auto-generated by WordPress in the /news/blog/ sub-dir. The main one I manually generate whenever a static page is added/updated on the site (ie. not under...

Free UK Web Directories - Add yor site to this ultimate UK free directory list

I have a huge (about 800) list of free directories ordered by PR (PR8 down to PR2) - but as a new member I cannot post links until I have 20 posts :(

BT hosting on servers in the US

Unless there is a technical workaround then I will probably leave it until the company grows more and moves to a new premises - then we can just host our own servers. I can easy set all that stuff up being a Systems Engineer by trade :)

    My Experience Serps Improvement Anyone?

Yes I am indeed wary - but I get confused with Google 'quality' guidelines. Are human-approved-listing directories not different from paid link-farms? Yes, forgot to mention that we also post on related forums/blogs to the company - with links in home pages and signatures (some follow, some...

BT hosting on servers in the US

Confirmed with BT today; ALL of their hostings are on US based servers. So if I want a UK IP address then I need to switch hosting providers :(
