    Social media marketing plays an important role in every marketing campaign. Every single action that you make on the social media site should be a part of your social media marketing strategy. This means that every post, reply and comment on other tweets must be guided by the social media plan and the goals you have set. Everyone can encounter success in social media if it is done correctly. The following are a few tips on how to create a social media marketing plan.

    1. Set Goals for the Social Media Campaign
    You must first set a goal for your social media marketing campaign. Setting goals for your social media plan will help you to connect with customers successfully. You can list down 3 goals according to the needs of your company. Some of the goals you can list down are brand awareness, minimize the marketing costs, and following up with your current customers.

    You must be specific about the goal you want to achieve and it must be relevant to your business. For example, you can set a goal of posting 5 photos on Pinterest every week and achieve 50 likes with 5 comments each. If you are setting a marketing goal, you must ask yourself how many leads and sales you want to generate via the social media sites.

    The goal must be attainable and its performance must be measurable. You can use analytics and other tracking tools to track the success of your goals. For example, it is more realistic to set an objective of increasing leads by 50% rather than 1000%. The key is to select an achievable goal with the resources you currently have. You can set a timeframe for your goal such as one month, three months, or 1 year.

    2. Do Research on Your Potential Customers
    If you want to succeed in social media marketing, you must know your potential customers. You must target your message on the right audience at the right timing. You have to do research on all aspects of your potential customers audience including age, occupation, HH Income, urban, habits, problems and interests. Knowing these details about your audience will make it easier for you to target them on the social media networks.

    3. Spy on Your Competitors
    You can spy on your competitors and learn how they use the social media sites to become successful in their efforts. You can start by first compiling a list of 4 – 6 competitors and then do research on the social networks they use to promote their sites. Remember to take note of the number of followers, posting frequency and the time they post.

    4. Focus on a Social Media Network that Adds Value
    You should put your focus on the network that will add value to your brand. Every social media network has its advantages and disadvantages. There are 4 major social media networks including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google +. facebook consists of 45% women and 55% men users. More than 60% of the users are between 18 – 34 years old. You can promote your products via the Facebook's News Feed. You can target the users on Facebook based on their interests.

    Twitter is well known for having a large volume of messages. There are more than 500 millions Tweets sent every day so using Twitter is a great way for providing customer service and following up on your customers. You can use Twitter to give instant response to unsatisfied customers so that they will become happy customers. LinkedIn has a network of more than 300 millions users. The majority of the users on LinkedIn are professionals so it is suitable for B2B marketers. Google + is beneficial when you have thousands of followers. Google will display a snippet for the profile when people search for your company on the search engine.

    5. Make Your Social Media Content Engaging by Adding Multimedia
    You have to create an engaging content in order to capture the attention of your potential customers on the social media. You can create how to video that answer the most frequently asked questions. Behind-the-scenes videos is a great way to show your customer what is happening in the background. You can also create a guide to demonstrate that the expertise of your company n the field. The guide you create must add value and cater to the targeted audience. Infographic, when done correctly, can be one of the most shared content on the social media network.
