dual core

Various distro's standard kernels will. However if you tell your kernel enough info it can handle as many cores as you can throw at it, and as many CPUs on 1 motherboard too.

Linux has always scaled with the technology. it was running the AMD64 chips fully while windows users were running 32bit via emulation

This scaling has always been a main focus of the kernel project

unfortunately, Microsoft dont implement this so you must purchase a specific operating system if you have a 64 bit chip or a 32bit one

Seems silly really :D

Microsoft is funny.. why would they release two versions if it can be configured via command line :S

^^ Point is, they want money, so they just change the configuration a little bit to trick people.

sad but true

Windows just doesnt cut it in the rapid changing environment of computers

They always release too late and full of bugs
