AD

Linux has groups, users can be members of multiple groups.

A folder has an owner group OR user. Rights are granted in base 8 (octal)

the IDs are Owner, Group and Everyone and are assigned to Read, Write and Execute

So logically
Read Write Execute
Owner X X X
Group X
Everyone X

Gives a permission of 744 on that folder. This is by far much quicker tan AD but does not allow masses of granularity

Full access for everyone ever is 777

Peace
